It is the electrical code and a national ruling that we can no longer purchase "new" neon sign transformers without a GFI, (Ground Fault Interupt). In fact, it is illegal to do so. If you are using the applicable non GFI trannies for high voltages devices, you should consider buying as many as you can, while you can. There are still many on eBay.

Also, regarding the GFI trannies; You cannot remove the GFI circuit. For it is sealed into the unit and is, (almost) impossible to get to pending on the manufacturer.

Zzaap!

I wonder why that is so? Hmm. Is it to prevent electrical shock or something more conspiratorial?
Waddaya think?

That fresh smell (of ozone) just after a thunderstorm is something that I miss here in the Northwest. Back in Philly, I remember that smell so well! There are a number of alternative cancer therapies that use hydrogen peroxide which is ionized and pumped into hyperbaric chambers while the patient is inside breathing O64, O128, etc. I always felt "energized after a storm passed through. The air seemed so clean and refreshing. That was also true when I lived in South Miami, and experienced those fast moving thunderstorms that only lasted about fifteen minutes or so. Our horses also seemed to "perk up" after a storm like that too. Was it just the ozone or was it something more?

Was that ozone smell prevalent during those fan/speaker tests? Isn't that what the present "Ionic Breeze" device does? But I also remember seeing other devices that mimicked the one that Sharper Image sold. There was one that I remember that claimed it was the "best" because it used but positive and negative ions, which not only cleaned the air, but made it better for breathing.
