Project Winterhaven

Post by Mark Culpepper »

Might as well put this up in its own area because there is WAY too much to talk about under some other heading.

http://www.soteria.com/kinetics/winter.htm Now taking it apart piece by piece. I enclurage all of you to do the same so we can have ready access to the material.

"PROJECT WINTERHAVEN"
(Return to Index Page)
A PROPOSAL FOR

JOINT SERVICES RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CONTRACT (now here is the first comment. Jount Services meaning that this thing was being offered to more than just the Army or Airforce, or maybe it just meant the two of them?

THE TOWNSEND BROWN FOUNDATION
416 Bowen Building
Washington 5, D.C.

( So then, was the family living there in Washington with Dr. Brown? Or was this just the business address. I just asked because I wondered what school it was that Linda attended. Or maybe I should as, what schools!)

This is registered copy ___ (so I wonder how many copies are in existance today and how many were handed out and to whom?}

THE TOWNSEND BROWN FOUNDATION

(Non-profit corporation, Ohio 1938) ( Is this Foundation still operational?)

Gee, and those are just the first volley of questions!I realized after I wrote them that they may not be all that important but when I have seen the name " Winterhaven" it usually has been attached to someone elses idea of what was going on,.. Just like to know what Pauls side of it is going to be. Wait, he will say. Mark C.

what Cook said

Post by grinder »

These are the few things that Cook said about "Project Winterhaven"and this is the first phrase in his book that caught my eye. Get out your Zero Point book here folks, here we go again!

Cook says on page 31 that he had called a fellow by the name of Valone. "The conversation drifted inevitably toward Townsend Brown and Winterhaven. It was then that I mentioned how I'd GIVE MY EYETEETH to know what was in it."( Now there is an interesting expression of enthusiasm for something that we all have in front of us now.)

He continued " A week later to my absolute astonishment a copy of Winterhaven (registered copy number 36) landed on my desk. Attached to the front page was a note from Valone. Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act there was no need for me and my teeth to part company, he said. I smiled. The man was a one stop shop."

Now, I wonder if Andrew has had all that information available all this time? Or was that copy #36 from someone else? Where did that copy exactly come from? Thats an interesting line of though, huh? At least if it was in the hands of the Air Force or some agency like that we will know that there were AT LEAST 36 copies out in circulation.

Others out there might appreciate the irony of the fact that in his index Project Winterhaven is sandwiched neatly between "Project Silverbug (USAF "Flying Saucer Project. pages73-77) which we have just been talking about and Psychic Dicsoveries Behind the Iron Curtain (page 112)

Is that what you call a cosmic haha Paul? I am beginning to see the drift of that! Thinking of Morgan I intend to look in that direction soon! Yes! This is fun! grinder

Holey Moley!!!

Post by grinder »

Paul! Paul! Paul! Here are some names and some organizations that may have been involved in all of this! And thanks to you! I have seen their names before! Damn. I wish you were home! I am going to put this out there anyway and encourage others to look in this direction too. I have to believe that we should be doing this, otherwise why are the pieces falling together so easily? Look at the chart for the Winterhaven project! Look at the names and the institutions! Do you see something familiar?

I won't step in there until others have had a chance to look. But please look. Victoria? Mark Mikado? especially you Andrew and LindaB, Elizabeth? Calling all hands! Just look!

ORGANIZATION:

It is proposed that the organization of Project WINTERHAVEN be formed by four commercial corporations engaged in applied research and four academic institutions engaged in pure research. In a program of this unusual scope and intrinsic importance, it is considered to be necessary from the start to establish a careful balance between pure and applied research and the mental qualities and attitudes found in each. It is further suggested that the attention of one-half of the organization be directed toward applications to propulsion and the other half toward applications to communication. Companies are to be selected whose current interests lie in these specific fields and whose personnel, combined facilities and hearty support can make the most effective contribution

But look hard at the chart! (I tried to get it to copy but can't for some reason. Look at it though folks and then check out Chapter 39 " Remember Dear")

And then remember the front page news story about an Expedition to the South Seas in 1936????? look for names! You tell me! Have I found a hidden linkup? grinder

William Lear??????

Post by Victoria Steele »

Looking at the chart now. First thing that hits me in the face is ... one of the proposed sub contractors under the Department of Defense was LEAR<INC. Now I am ASSUMING that translates to an interest by William Lear! We have talked about him before haven't we? As I recall he was quoted several times as saying that he believed that "Flying Saucers" were absolutely real. And I believe that Paul already knows about this connection. Shoot grinder. Its like having a blueprint of the operation BEFORE IT WENT BLACK. Does that make any sense to say at all.

Paul Are we off track here? Oh, when you come back ..... are we off track here. I just don't think so. Look at the other names here. University of Pa????? Princeton??????? University of Chicago?????? and who the heck is JANSKY and BAILEY?????????

Thanks Andy for this new thing to chew on for awhile. Bill Moore trouser leg is temporarily safe. (but not forgotten) Victoria

Grinder,

I'm away at another computer right now, but I'll try to get around to offering any more information I have when I get back home.

I can tell you that my copy is number 36, a copy of which I gave Mr. Valone prior to his presentation to Mr. Cook. Mr. Valone certainly is a "one stop shop" . That type of maneuvering is common in this field as we have all learned over time. I've had this copy for some time (about 15 years), and it was in with Townsend's documents. I don't exactly know what eyeteeth are, but I understand they are relatively valuable :)

In any case, if you remember, Mr. Lear was a frequent visitor to the Bahnson labs during that period. I had the pleasure of speaking with Mr. J. Frank King some years ago - a very charming man. Unfortunately, I was primarily interested in the technical side of their work, and didn't get into the working environment or people their at the time.

Another Excellent Adventure

Post by Trickfox »

Hello folks

First let me thank Andy (Chris Knight) for putting the material up for everyone to see. Secondly, it's time to remind everyone that this website and it's contents is the official biography of Thomas Townsend Brown. We have been going over a lot of information over the past few years. People may find themselves surprized and overwhelmed that the truth is finally comming out about all this Flying Saucer technology. All we have to say is JOIN THE CLUB. We continue to be astounded ourselves.

Lear, Inc.

Post by grinder »

Well, for sure Lear Inc. is William Lear developer of the automatic flight system and then later of the personal jet that carried his name. That much I do know.

Following just a hunch I took out my well marked up copy of Mr. Cooks book and simply looked up Lear and the first thing that came up was Lear Inc. so I decided to see what Cook would have to say about that .... so page 3 and page 20. lets see .......Gee three is the page where Cook describes how a mystery article strangely ends up on his desk. The article was " The G- Engines are Coming!" by Michael Gladtych.(1956) And THIS, I understand from what Cook, is said was the seed of information that started him on the path to the book that we are all using now as a textbook. Anybody out there find that strange?

He quotes Lear as saying "All matter within the ship would be influenced by the ships gravitation only" Lear apparently said of the wondrous GCraft. " This way, no matter how fast you accelerated or changed course your body would not feel it any more than it now feels the tremendous speed and acceleration of the Earth" .................. Cook ends up asking "Had Gladtych made them up or had Lawrence Bell, George Trimble and William "Bill" Lear really said what he had quoted them as saying?" And that question is what sets him off on the research for his book. Which is a wonderful result of that quest.

Well, heres the tough part. I guess you could just go to one of Bill Lears children and maybe ask them about those quotes but one of the more prominent in UFO circles is a fellow by the name of John Lear. Now, if you have spent anytime at this then the "Lear Hypothesis" will ring a bell.

Why would a son of a prominent man like Bill Lear have such a wild imagination in this direction?? Unless perhaps, there was some little thing to it? John Lear, I think is about the same age as Linda Brown and I noted in the earlier forum notes that they had even communicated with each other. John Lear, as I recall, advised Linda to live in a remote place, pull the blankets over her head, because as far as he was concerned it was all over. The "aliens" had already won. Personally I can tell and I am thankful that the lady did not take his advice.

. But my point here is that Bill Lear and Townsend Brown were old friends. Their children have confirmed that. And they were definitely working together from this Winterhaven chart .... or at least THEY PLANNED to work together.

I don't even want to go into Johns world, just making the note that it is out there and what the relationship to Townsend Browns story might be. Paul has wanted to avoid the sensationalism of what could be called the UFO gutterball scenario and if some of the things that John Lear has said wouldn't qualify in that department, then nothing would.

And Victoria, You circle around John Lear enough, I notice, and the name William Moore pops up. pantlegs girl, pantlegs! grinder

Convair! and Lear Inc.

Post by Victoria Steele »

grinder!

Thankyou for going where you went! I have been pouring over all the material brought up about Floyd Odlum which I hadn't really known before but I did notice the name CONVAIR as being one of his companies.

And LOOK everybody! Look what Nick Cook says on page 20!

" Glen Martin says gravity control could be achieved in SIX YEARS, but they add it would entail a Manhattan Project type of effort to bring it about ....... then a long list of firms investigating the field .... then this!" Convair exstensively committed to the work with SEVERAL RIGS. lear Inc. autopilot and electronic engineers have a division of the company working on gravity research and so also has the Sperry division of Sperry Rand. " Remember everyone this was in 1956. Its just ten years later that Dr. Brown tells my man Morgan that he could "sign up" for time travel "in his lifetime! So we are not just talking about a propulsion system here!

Apparently Mr. Cook couldn't make the association between Dr. Brown and Convairs Odlum and William Lear and Lear Inc. that Paul has been able to do. And that I am just tickled to say is, I think, just the start of new connections! Oh! This is going to be fun to watch!

And Mr. Moore? Oh, I am sure that his name will come up and I will have my opportunity. Remember that he is the person that wrote to Paul saying that Dr. Brown led a "troubled life". I intend to address that attitude, but now is not the time. Victoria

Here's a link I found for Karl Jansky of Jansky & Bailey (from the proposed structure of Winterhaven). I can see that Townsend and Jansky had a common interest - listening to the stars.

Jansky and Bailey

Post by Victoria Steele »

Thank you so much Andrew! Another LARGE piece of the puzzle has fallen together with with a resounding thud! (Paul, you SAID "go get the information" and I am assuming that counts for everybody!

And again Paul. You can't possibly resort to the phrase " Well, yes, this and 10c" because you have to admit that this is pretty solid tracking! It would even stand up pretty darned well in a courtroom setting, I am thinking!

And The fellow (Jansky) is part of Dr. Browns network obviously and was well acquainted with the more mystical aspects of all of this or he would not have written his tribute to his brother the way he did. Speaking of his brothers work notice the tie in phrases that he uses

http://www.bigear.org/CSMO/HTML/CS04/cs04p12.htm

phrases like:

All of these factors, such as basic elements of character, inherent abilities, family environment, scholastic environment, the course of study in college, the choice of a life work, the choice of an employer, the assignment to a specific project, had a vital influence upon what followed. The stage must be set before the play can begin. "

(YES, IT TAKES A WHILE, JUST AS PAULS PROJECT HAS TAKEN AWHILE. BUT THIS HAS BEEN EXCITING WATCHING THIS STAGE BEING SET.)

and

"I wish to dwell for a moment on the subject of data taking. It is one thing to sit at a desk and on the basis of information and data gathered by others hypothesize with respect to the laws of nature. It is another to design, develop and build apparatus and equipment and then to embark upon a long, tedious program of taking accurate, dependable data on what actually takes place. There are some who look upon data taking as beneath the dignity of true scientists preferring to leave this detailed work to assistants. I do not wish to disparage the value of theory and speculation as necessary elements in any scientific study but rather to emphasize that Karl Jansky's work demonstrates how essential is the accumulation of adequate, accurate data"

(Sounds like Townsend Brown and his recording this " sidereal radiation" at all hours, for years upon years. Even sleeping beside his instruments, Paul has said.)

he continues:

"In a paper titled, "Directional Studies of Atmospherics at High Frequencies", presented at Washington, D.C. in April 1932 before the International Scientific Radio Union, Karl Jansky described his equipment and classified the types of static he was receiving on 14.6 meters into three distinct groups. (NOTE THE YEAR 1932) The first group he described as static from local thunderstorms, and the second as static from thunderstorms some distance away. Then he stated, "the third group is composed of a very steady hiss static the origin of which is not yet known." (HE CALLS IT A VERY STEADY HISS BUT TOWNSEND BROWN WAS ALREADY CONCERNING HIMSELF WITH A DIFFERENT WAY OF FINDING THE SAME THING) While he speculated on the possible source of this new type of static, it is important to note his comment that "the data as yet only cover observations taken over a few months and more observations are necessary before any hard and fast deductions can be drawn." (BY THEN TOWNSEND BROWN HAD NEARLY TEN YEARS OF DAILY READINGS UNDER HIS BELT. AM I CORRECT IN THAT PAUL?)

I am not concerned here with specific dates. They are all a matter of record. What is important is the long period of time devoted to the accumulation of data on static as received on 14.6 meters as a function of time and direction and the creative interpretation of this factual evidence. Before the Washington meeting of the International Scientific Radio Union held in April 1933, Karl Jansky presented his paper in which he stated his conclusion as to what the data showed. The title of this paper is, "Electrical Disturbances Apparently of Extraterrestrial Origin". Note the use of the word "apparently". This illustrates a modesty which I am sure astronomers, physicists and all true scientists both understand and appreciate.

In his paper Karl Jansky set forth with reasonable accuracy, considering the limitations of his antenna, the point of origin of the extraterrestrial hiss static he was receiving. I will quote from the paper:

"In conclusion, data have been presented which show the existence of electromagnetic waves in the earth's atmosphere which apparently come from a direction that is fixed in space. The data obtained give for the coordinates of this direction a right ascension of 18 hours and a declination of -10 degrees.
"The experiments which are the subject of this paper were performed at Holmdel, N.J. (Latitude 40°22'N and Longitude 74°10'W) during the year 1932." (DID TOWNSEND BROWN EVER QUOTE A DIRECTION FROM WHICH HE FELT HIS "RADIATION WAS COMING FROM?")the jansky brothers comments continue:

"Now, I am an electronic engineer and not an astronomer. My comments must be taken with this limitation in mind. I look upon Karl Jansky's paper, "Electric Disturbances Apparently of Extraterrestrial Origin", as a classic. It is in effect a wedding ceremony. It weds the science of astronomy and the science of radio and electronic engineering. It ties these sciences together by inseparable bonds.

My collegiate studies were in a field of pure science, namely, physics. Then I became a teacher of an applied science, namely, radio and electrical engineering. In my teaching days when I was perhaps more willing to generalize than now, I used to define a pure scientist as one who if he saw a practical application of what he was doing somehow felt contaminated by commercialism and an applied scientist as one who if he could not see a practical application of his work would lose interest. Is it not true that there exists no definitive boundary between pure and applied science? The discovery of extraterrestrial noise came as a result of a research program originally directed to a very practical end.

Naturally, I had at least a limited appreciation of what was going on in Karl Jansky's mind in the early 1930's when he was gathering large amounts of data and also trying to figure what the data meant. I remember well when he started the study of the basic principles of astronomy, a field of science in which he had had no previous training. He felt this necessary if he were to interpret the mass of factual information he was collecting. I find his description of astronomical coordinates as lucid as anything on the subject I have read elsewhere. Very probably this is because my training and experience had been in the same field of science as was his, namely, physics and electronic engineering.

I recall among other things that after Karl Jansky concluded that his hiss static came from the center ofthe Milky Way he went back and tried correlating the data he had taken some time previously. At first it looked as though in some instances no correlation existed. Then suddenly he realized that some of these early data had been recorded using daylight saving time. When he applied the correction, he found these previous data tended to still further support his discovery.

Karl Guthe Jansky died in Red Bank, New Jersey, in February 1950 at the age of forty-four. In the trying period that followed his death I told the members of his family that his contribution to basic science was such that the full value of his discovery would not be recognized for at least half a century. (HOW INTERESTING IS THAT, EVERYBODY.!!! AND HOW ABSOLUTELY CORRECT, NO MATTER WHAT HE WROTE LATER IT STILL HAS TAKEN AT LEAST FIFTY YEARS)How wrong can a man be! (BUT HOW RIGHT HE WAS!) Here just six years later I find myself before a group of astronomers, physicists and radio engineers far more competent than I, viewing with amazement the progress which has taken place in recent years in a new branch of astronomy based upon a scientific discovery made by a man I am proud to say was my brother.

(KARL GUTHE JANSKY DIED IN 1950. THE CHART THAT WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT IS DATED 1956 (I think, check me on that!) IT NAMES "JANSKY AND BAILEY" AS THE" CONTRACT CONSULTANTS" BETWEEN TOWNSEND BROWN (The chief project engineer ... I am following the chart here ....) and the "Prime contractor" which is not named. So it was the writer of this article, the brother, that Townsend Brown was dealing with directly.)

ANYWAY HE CONTINUES:

The jansky
The unit used by radio astronomers for the strength (or flux density) of radio sources is the jansky (symbolic form, Jy). The jansky is equal to one-hundredth of one trillionth of a trillionth of a watt per square meter per hertz. In scientific symbolic notation this is expressed

1 Jy = 10-16 W m-2 Hz-1
Note that in accordance with the SI (System International) notation, the unit jansky is not capitalized when written out but it is capitalized in its symbol form (Jy). This convention is followed whenever a unit is named after a person. Thus, we have the watt (symbol W), the hertz (symbol Hz), both named after persons, but the meter (symbol m) because the meter is not named after a person. Typical strong radio sources have strengths of 10 to 100 janskys (10 Jy to 100 Jy) while weaker ones are measured in thousandths of a jansky or millijanskys (symbol mJy).

C. M. Jansky, Jr. (1895-1975) was born in Barry County, Michigan. After receiving the B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from the University of Wisconsin in 1917 and 1919, respectively, he taught radio communications and electronics at the University of Minnesota from 1920 to 1929, becoming associate professor of radio engineering. In 1920 he established the first radio broadcasting station west of the Mississippi River at Minneapolis, Minnesota. (AND HE AND TOWNSEND BROWN WOULD HAVE HAD MUCH IN COMMON, WITH WHAT PAUL HAS TOLD US ABOUT DR. BROWNS EARLY RADIO EXPERIENCES AT DENISON!)

Mr. Jansky was a participant at many conferences dealing with radio regulations, broadcast planning, and radio navigation and sea rescue.(NOTE RADIO NAVIGATION, SEA RESCUE. I TRANSLATE THAT QUICKLY INTO A FIRM KNOWLEDGE OF THE KINDS OF THINGS SUBS WOULD NEED TO KNOW, RIGHT?) He became a Member of the Institute of Radio Engineers (now Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) in 1918, being made a Fellow Member in 1928. He was President of the Institute in 1934 and a member of its Board of Directors from 1929 to 1942. He was senior partner of the firm of Jansky and Bailey, consulting radio engineers, of Washington, D.C.
(lOOK AGAIN AT THE CHART FOLKS. This Jansky is the person acting as the "go between" Townsend Brown and whoever would have been the "prime contractor". In this, who would that have been? Someone big probably, like General Electric?

Anyway, something to really get our teeth into. And by the way Andrew. "eye teeth" I think are also referred to as "canines" though since I am no dentist, I may be mistaken! For others out there, this is a reference to the fact that Nick Cook made the comment in his book that he would give his "eyeteeth" for a look at the Winterhaven Papers. Look what he missed! years or distance?

Post by grinder »

Nice to see you back Mikado. As you can see we have sorta turned over this big rock and there all all KINDS of things under here!

In distance? Only a few miles I believe. Franklin Institute is in the City I think ,where Bala Cynwyd is a main line town on the other side of the river. The actual city line is just on one side of Bala Cynwyd. I say that because I remember visiting once and realizing that I had to walk across the street to get a Philadelphia Center City bus. Long time ago and I might be wrong.

But I am beginning to think that distance in miles is not what we are really looking at here. If you are going for some sort of association with the Franklin Institute through the years with Browns work I am kind of hard pressed to come up with anything.

Paul? No, how about Elizabeth? Paul is going to be gone for another couple of weeks or so. So Elizabeth then. Do you think that Dr. Brown had something going with Martin Decker that much earlier? He must have been in the Washington/ Philadelphia area by that time so maybe that was possible. And whats this thing about a "library", I don't think its a library in the sense that Mikado meant but what does THIS library mean.

And here is something else that just popped up at me. In the Jansky article it mention that he was interested in HIGH FREQUENCY "atmospherics". HUH?

Isn't "high frequency " what Dr. Sarbacher is noted for being interested and associated with?Besides missle guidence systems? And the year for Winterhaven was 1956? right? Just six years AFTER Sarbacher is credited mentioned that super secret project to someone who mentioned it to Smith. Who then went home to Canada to start a project there? I still don't get it yet, but at least I have more pieces to play with in my head.

So Paul, Elizabeth. Where is Sarbacher in Dr. Browns life while this chart is being drawn up? What would have interested him the most? Or would he have been on the Department of Defense side of things? You know, why not? Missles and things I just typed. Now that would make some sense. But what were his connections with Dr. Brown and who else could put them together.

You know it was mentioned that Bill Lear was part of Townsend Browns network in that time frame. Andrew seems to have confirmed that Mr. Lear was visiting the Bahnson Labs in 1958 or so, but that is in North Carolina . right.

And here is where it gets REALLY wierd. Then what was DR. Brown doing in Paris in 1956(?) having his picture taken with his "armed escort" Mr. Twigsnapper? (picture is on the Forum) and a bunch of sailors? Are they US sailors? I can't tell from their uniform. I don't think that that picture was taken by chance! And when you look at it it seems that they all knew each other. So which ship is represented here? Is it a surface ship? Or a submarine? Oh, my head is going to go away! I just hope that Paul can make some sense of this.

Maybe thats what this is all about. And of course Paul is the main puzzle piece here because he is sitting on all of this "insider" information that he has collected for the past three years. And once that shows up maybe all the rest of this will make sense.

And remember the gap of years here. Would the "Decker Lab" even have been in existence in 1956 or so when this chart and "Project Winterhave mentions a "library project" headed up by the University of Pa. Whats that all about anyway? Elizabeth, HELP! grinder

the proposed structure

Post by Victoria Steele »

You know, you can sure tell alot about what is planned for an organization by the proposed chart that they put out for themselves. And this one for Project Winterhaven answers alot of questions all by itself. I have, finally, a printed copy , enlarged, in front of me. Try that guys! Its a big help because you really have to have it in front of you to see the relationships that are explict and implied.

First of all notice that after the top where it says " The Townsend Brown Foundation" right under that it says "Washington fund." Now what exactly does that mean? Thats where monies were to go?,or was that a source ? Were there other funds? In other areas?

And the mention of DOD is broken down to Navy, Army and Air Force. Now, that in itself means something to me. At first it was a puzzle. I mean, I understood certainly the Air Force interest, and the Navy interest for sure, but the Army? Until I realized that the main communications center for encrypted stuff was the Army Signal Corps. So that makes sense, doesn't it? Joint services.

OK, Here are my new topics for research. Just as Andrew was such a big help on the last you are ALL welcomed to particpate in this if the urge strikes you. Please join us !

I'd like to know who Dr. W.F.G. Swann was and why Dr. Brown would have him listed as the Chairman of the "Board of Advisors?"

Wasn't the whole Loomis bunch affiliated with the University of Chicago? Anybody see any crossovers thqat I don't yet?

And who is Hancock Manufacturing?

Already have a good handle on Lear but everyone is welcomed to weigh in there!

We may have to correct some of our dates before we get fouled up. This proposal was apparently first issued in October of 1952 and then reissued in January of 1953. Thats earlier, I think than we had been thinking.

So every body set your watches and your decoder rings. Lets go see what else we can find out there!

Oh, and Andrew. Soon as I am in a spot where I can I am going to take a real hard look at that whole gutter ball area . J(ohn Lear, Greys, Bill Moore and yes the MJ12 Group and papers.)

Hey . There is a WHOLE Conference out there which is trying to deal with what may be the truth out of all that so I guess its only right to look harder. I know that Paul doesn't want to and for some reason Elizabeth does not want to deal with the subject either. Maybe she is rightfully afraid that when you decide to go wrestle in the mud with hogs you sort of get what you should expect. As my Grandmother used to say " Don't wrestle with the hogs in this world. All that happens is you get filthy and they enjoy themselves." Well, when you are not afraid of getting filthy, (and I am not), it needs to be proven just how much the hogs might enjoy the experience. I might just go and find out. Victoria

classified????

Post by Victoria Steele »

And in the Project Winterhaven papers there is this interesting comment by someone, (I don't think it was dr. Brown because earlier he mentions Dr. Brown and he has his birthdate wrong. Strangely it stayed , or was that a transfer typo?) Anyway here is the phrase:

from http://www.soteria.com/kinetics/winter.htm

"In recent years, as additional data of a confirming nature became available, the research has been associated with government research projects of a highly classified status, and publication has been precluded."

Well, I don't know if that is PROOF that things around Townsend Brown were taken over by the government but thats what THAT paper says anyway. Is that the root of all the reports from all the other writers in the past that things "went black" If so, maybe there was some actual basis to it? GOVERNMENT RESEARCH PROJECTS. I read that ....... more than one, right?

where was he?

Post by Mark Culpepper »

I think the thing that is most appealing to me right now is that part of this mystery can be solved, or at least some kind of light can be shed on it , by simply knowing where Dr. Brown was at any one particular moment. I have gotten the impression that he did not travel hither and yon for the sheer fun of it, though I expect Dr. Brown enjoyed the travel. But where ever he happened to be I expect thats where a project was.

And if the lead on the Townsend Brown Foundation (Washington fund) is any clue, there were probably OTHER projects as well running maybe even simultaneously. This is really great stuff. Great stuff.

So far Paul has brought us up very neatly to the day that he tended his resignation from the Navy. Now if you believe that he was an admitted homosexual and was resigning in disgrace and to avoid a court martial then go ahead and believe it, but I don't. I think that his daughter was right (Chapter whatever, Down the Rabbit Hole) I agree with her that there was probably something going on that was VERY big and his participation was needed. So he walked out of the Navy.

Now, that had to have been hard. No matter what the reason was, it must have gone against every thought and ideal he had at the moment to leave the Navy like that.

You would figure that he would have resigned in disgrace. There is a war on. A "shooting war" as Paul put it, and Townsend Brown is out of the Navy? It just doesn't feel right but I am sure that Paul has the explanation waiting for us, whenever he can tell us "the rest of the story" Going to be beyond interesting!

Me, I just want to know what he did in ten year segments. He walks out of the Navy in Nov of 1942. In November of 1952 he has written the Winterhaven proposal. Damn. Look at everything that happened in those ten years. At some point he must have been in Germany because Twigsnapper has said so. Then Hawaii? Then Washington DC? Resulting in that wonderous proposal. Such high expectations! But what happened then? Others have said it was as if a curtain fell over the entire subject.

And then the next ten years, from 1952 to 1962. I understand he was in London/Paris. and then Alexandria ,Virginia in the 60s, Then .... damn, I lost him ... reference to the family living in Nassau and having "Charles " join them, then the Philadelphia area. I can't keep up. But I can conclude, I think fairly safely, that each move had a meaning and a story to tell and I just can't wait to see how Paul puts this together. Mark C.
