Hello everyone,
I’m thrilled to join this forum, as my wife can no longer endure my endless scientific rants! I’ve been fascinated by physics and the paradigm-shifting potential of scientific ideas since childhood. Tinkering to understand how things work and imagining their future applications has always driven me. I’m excited to learn from your collective knowledge and hope to contribute meaningfully someday.
My professional background spans diverse trades, from commercial diving to aviation, and I’ve noticed many threads here resonate with my experiences. Living on a rock orbiting a plasma sphere in the vast vacuum of space, within such delicate conditions, makes me wonder why we focus on conflict instead of reaching for the stars. It’s not just utopian dreaming—our curiosity should fuel a relentless pursuit of knowledge. Humanity is far more capable than we often realize, and our potential for progress grows exponentially across generations. I look forward to catching up on your insights and joining the conversation!

Hi Bryan! I just got here recently, too. Looking forward to your contributions.

Hi Bryan and Robert! It's always good to hear from new people.
My father was in aviation, which was my entry point to the subject as a kid. I wonder if you remember the pre-Web era, the 1980s back pages of Popular Science and Popular Mechanics? There were multiple garage publishers selling weird little information packets, blueprints, kits and 'zines. Some of those carried on into the Web era - Rex Research, American Scientific and Information Unlimited - but many didn't.
This sort of thing: https://archive.org/details/bub_gb_qq6G ... 7/mode/1up
My family sent away for some of those packets, and some of them I haven't seen since. I always hope someone might have preserved copies of anything that might not yet have been scanned and found its way to the Internet Archive or the wider Web.
(I see Robert Iannini of Information Unlimited died two years ago: https://www.smith-heald.com/obituaries/robert-e-iannin. I never had any of his devices but knowing they existed gave my teenage mind much joy. )
Regards, Nate

Re: Hello everyone my name is Bryan Rice
Sorry to be late to your welcome party, Bryan.
Your message touched me. I once thought the miracle of the then-new web was that it would, indeed, fuel our relentless curiosity in search of the truth.
I could not have imagined how effectively disinformation would be used to dampen that need while enhancing the need to be outraged or entertained.
Curiosity is a gift that should be prized and honed.
