Where’s Waldo?

I left my itinerary for this week more or less up to chance.  I had some idea about where I might go, but once I got in the car, I found myself going in the opposite direction.  I’d thought I might go to Florida:  Spring Training at Vero Beach…. South Beach… Maybe see if I could make it to Key West.

Instead I decided to start out on a road called the Natchez Trace Parkway — a little traveled two lane road that meanders from Nashville through parts of Alabama and ending in Natchez, on the Mississippi River.  I drove the first leg to Tupelo, and the drive was so sublime — 200 miles with virtually no traffic! — that I just decided to keep on going down to Natchez.  Spent two nights there and then took the "Great River Road" into Louisiana and New Orleans.

A couple of nights in the Crescent City (Bourbon Street — what a concept) and I think I’m ready to work my way back to the barn…
